travel2japan #78 halftime

Hey guys!
So, I was in Japan as an exchange student. And wrote diary; approximately three pages every single day. As I think it may be interesting translating the thoughts of an exchange student in Japan, I'm now going to do this.
Some background information:
I was in Japan from March to July 2015(4 1/2 month). I lived in Chiba with a host family.
I went there with the organization WYS (Word Youth Society).
Here we go.

travel2japan #78 halftime
Real date: May 27th, Wednesday

Today is the actual day when half of my time here in Japan is over. It feels weird. I am now wearing the summer school uniform, but there, it is a little iddicult to put my dictionary in the pocket of my skirt. I have to buy a new toothpaste for the second half of my time here.

travel2japan #77 family & friends
Real date: May 26th, Tuesday

I feel guilty because I used a lot of toilet paper for blowing my nose but Kouta san and Wakari san just seem to be sorry. Tomorrow morning, Wakari san gave me some tissues. In this moment, she really felt like a mother to me. Yesterday, Wakari san did not put all the sauerkraut in the obento (lunch box) but left some for me to try. Everyone is so nice here <3

minimalism- also digital

source
Hey, everyone!
When researching for minimalist lifestyle and tips to own as less physical properties as possible, a lot of people recommend digitalizing parts of your life or hobbies, for example with apps, online services or purchasable programs. As this does not only reduces properties that clutter your house and cause you stress, but often also leads to a decreased amount of produced waste, I agree with a lot of this tips.
There is, however, the risk of becoming cluttered digitally.

travel2japan: letter I wrote to myself before my departure

Hello, guys!
This is a letter, I wrote in a separate book at the day before my departure to Japan, so at the 20th of March. It contains my expectations, hopes, worries and thoughts about my upcoming adventure Japan.
comments in italics

Hey!
I got this cute book from my friends as a farewell and now I want to write something in it as well. I already got recommended to write a letter to myself about what I expect the exchange to be like. So I will do now.

zero waste school life #2 saving writing paper

 Hello, everyone!
The biggest source of trash when going to school or university is undoubtly paper. We get worksheets and information papers, read in paper books and novel and use paper to work on tasks or take notes.
Today, I want to talk about the paper use, you have the most influence on: the paper you use for notes, solving problems, summarizing information, working on tasks, etc.

The obligatory posing in
front of the self- made obento
Today morning, I am feeling a bit sick. Because I kind of have sickness in the throat, I want to eat constantly to not feel it. Breakfast today somehow was amazingly tasty; bread with srcambled eggs (I somehow had to get the bread from the kitchen on my own), really delicious broccoli, tomatoes, onions and other vegetables. We started cooking and I had the feeling that I understood nothing at all. Somehow, I did everything wrong.

Real date: May 24th, Sunday

Today (finally!) really is the day, when half of my exchange is over and half is still to make. At about 20 for 5, I woke up from some random noise, then fell asleep and got up again at 5 o'clock. I continued working at my small pocket calendar, it is almost finished.

decluttering my drawing supplies

Hello guys!
You recognize a need to declutter when you spend a long time searching for something in a pile of things, you do not remember when you used them the last time.
This time, I thought that it was time to deal with the storage shelf of my drawing supplies. As you can see on the first picture, it are a mass of different pens, papers, materials and bags laying around without a particular order.

 #74 other-people-are-visiting-our-school-day
Real date: May 23h, Saturday

Today is the day that other people will visit our school. Today morning, I ate a little earlier breakfast. I talked a bit with Wakari san. She thinks that Amber will stay here till October and does not believe me that she will stay here till January. Also, she thinks that this other-people-are-visiting-our-school-day is not interesting.

zero waste school life: #1 Don't use a planner

source
Hello, everybody!
As you already may have noticed in my waste of the week and paper of the week updates, a major source of my waste is going to school and studying for it. As most of the zero waste bloggers and youtubers, however, are already out of school. there are not really that much tips on avoiding waste in school. This, on the other hand, challenges me to figure out things myself and so I will do.
I want to start the series zero waste school life starting with this post.

 #73 my regret
Real date: May 22h, Friday

Today, I will not take an obento (lunch box) with me. I will get myself a pack of 8 slices of bread at the 7 11 store. I will eat one slice and leave the others for other occasions, for example my trip to Tokyo. I want to save money for my presents for the people here and back home and for trips I want to go on. So, this might be expensive.

Upcycle your clothes!

Hello, everybody!
My wardrobe is definitely a topic that I will speak about in detail later but for now, let me just say that I do like and wear regulary about 90 % of the items in my wardrobe. I think, however, the last time, I deliberately went 'shopping' on clothes is more than a few years ago.

#72 anger and the third realization
Real date: May 21h, Thursday

I dreamed a weird dream. I kind of was in Berlin, where I met with my friends but had no souvenir gifts so I felt weird and they were angry at me. I phoned my family and said that I liked Berlin but they did not like it. Then, I said to one of my friends that I want to see Cathy Cat and one of them answered that she is arrogant and would not see me. I cannot remember how the dream went on.

When I woke up today (at 6 o'clock, puh, in time), I firstly answered messages of Shika and Ami. The breakfast was tasty and now, my stomach is full. My hostmother brought me to school by car. As she will come home late today, I will have to buy myself food at Kasumi (the local supermarket). It was raining.

Rock am Rock 2016- the waste issue

As I have already mentioned in my general Rock am Ring 2016 post, I was surprised about that much trash at the event. Of course, events like RaR are (as I talked about previously here) a source of a lot of waste. But the fact, that the lawns were already a great garbage dump when we arrived, really did surprise me. A lot of people just threw their waste on the area around the tent or just let it fall where they were going at the moment. For me, that was really shocking; not, because I try to life zero waste but because I was raised in a way that I regard throwing garbage on the street is an absoulutely impossible no-go. I think, for the most people there it just occurred to be easy to just throw the trash away. For me, it was not a very nice view to see people literally living and sitting in their own trash.
I also, however, saw a lot of creativity of people 'recycling' their trash creatively, for example using a broken chair and grill as drums or (very popular) crafting animal puppets with empty beer cans and duct tape. The interesting ways, people used duct tape was an own art as well.

Rock am Ring 2016

Hello, everybody!
This weekend, I was to the Rock am Ring rock music festival. It was my first time going to RaR (abbreviation for Rock am Ring)and my first time visiting a festival in general.
To give you a little impression, I will show some photos I took at the festival:

Rock am Ring - Minimalist packing

Hello, everyone!
Last weekend I was to Rock am Ring 2016. As for this, I wanted to survive the festival with as least waste as possible and a minimalist bag. As for the bag, I challenged myself to fit everything in this backpack. So, I really wanted to take only the things, I really needed.

Qualitative blogging

Hello.
I did not know what to blog about today. After some research, I came up with diffrent ideas, mostly about minimalism yet they did not quite satisfy me. Of course, I could just search for an interesting topic, get informed about it a little bit and write my blog entry for today. Easy, quick, job done.
But this is not what I want. neither is this enjoyable to me nor to somebody reading this who has assumably read article slike that 10 times before.
I want to write about things of value and not things of volume. I want a good quality, not a good quantity. I do not want to spam pointless articles. I want to put out long, valuable, worthy articles that I have invested my time and energy in. I want to inform, convince, inspire and motivate, not to copy.
I do not know, how my blog is going to develop. Maybe, this is just a temporary feeling that will diminish soon, maybe I will, indeed decrease the frequency of my articles.
Don't get me wrong, I am not suffering from a lack of ideas or a lack of motivation. I have a lot of ideas for projects and plans I want to transform into reality, yet, they require more research, inofrmation, energy and tim, I can invest in my blog on a daily basis.
So, in the next time, I will let go a little of my ambition to put out a blog article every day and focus on the project rather then on the time, I will present it.
See you soon

 #69 She hates me
Real date: May 18th, Monday

Today morning, I woke up by hearing Wakari san shouting: 'Hopey! Are you up?' Shit, it was already lamost 7 o'clock. I hurried up to get dressen and quickly went in the kitchen. The breakfast was tasty but because I ate so quickly, I could not quite enjoy it. I apologized: 'I am sorry that I am tired because of the orientation camp' After breakfast, I watched a little TV with Kouta san. Wakari san drove Kouta san to the station. Because of the test, school starts just at 8:25, so I could walk to school a little later. On the way there, I thought about Wakari sans hat towards me (and again: she did not hat me)
